Bianca Andreescu got off to a fast start at the National Bank Cup presented by IGA on Tuesday evening.
The 17-year-old earned her third straight victory over American Jennifer Brady, ranked no. 65 in the world, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the second round at the WTA International Series event.
Andreescu was dominant from start to finish, needing just one hour to earn the comprehensive win. She’ll face Czech Lucie Hradecka in the second round on Thursday. Andreescu was named the WTA’s breakthrough player of the month after reaching her first WTA quarter-final in Washington thanks to a victory over Kristina Mladenovic.
Seeds Tatjana Maria of Germany, Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck, and Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland also advanced on Tuesday.
